Russian Army Launches Massive Drone Attack on Ukraine, 260 Drones Destroyed

In a significant escalation of hostilities, the Russian Armed Forces conducted a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 286 strike drones, of which Ukrainian defenses successfully intercepted 260.

In the early hours of Saturday, April 4, the Russian Federation's military launched a comprehensive attack on Ukrainian territory, utilizing 286 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and others. This information was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

According to military sources, approximately 200 of the drones that targeted Ukrainian positions were specifically Shahed drones. This indicates that Russia continues to employ these UAVs to inflict damage on both civilian infrastructure and military installations across Ukraine.

In response to the aerial threat, Ukrainian defense forces activated their air defense systems. The operation involved aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups. As of 07:00, Ukrainian air defense managed to neutralize 260 Russian UAVs of various types, demonstrating a high level of readiness and effectiveness among Ukrainian military personnel.

The Air Forces of the AFU also reported that the attack resulted in 11 drones hitting 10 different locations. Additionally, debris from the downed targets fell in six other areas, potentially leading to further destruction and threats to the civilian population.

Military officials warned that the aerial assault was ongoing, with approximately 20 enemy drones remaining in the sky, indicating the possibility of further threats to Ukrainian cities and villages.

On the morning of Saturday, April 4, explosions were heard in Kyiv, confirming reports of active air defense operations. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), a fire broke out on the roof of a non-residential building in the Darnytskyi district as a result of the attack. This situation raised concerns among residents of the capital, as such attacks could lead to severe consequences.

Moreover, Russian forces targeted the city of Sumy, striking a 16-story residential building and private sector properties. As a result of this incident, seven individuals were injured, including a child. These events further underscore the devastating impact of the war on the civilian population and infrastructure in Ukraine.

Thus, the situation in Ukraine remains tense, with Ukrainian military forces continuing to combat aggression from Russia in their efforts to protect their country and its citizens.
