Russian Army Suffered Significant Losses in March, According to Ukrainian Defense Ministry
In March 2023, Russian occupying forces experienced severe losses, with nearly 32,000 troops killed, while managing to capture only 160 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported these statistics, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by Russian forces in the conflict.
Russian occupying forces suffered significant casualties in March 2023, losing nearly 32,000 of their military personnel. Despite these staggering losses, they managed to capture only 160 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. Additionally, they dropped a record number of guided aerial bombs, totaling 7,987, marking the highest figure recorded since the beginning of the year. This information was released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, which provided statistical indicators of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.
According to the Ministry of Defense, March saw 4,985 combat clashes, alongside a staggering 115,000 artillery shellings. The report indicates that Russian forces are attempting to break Ukrainian resistance by deploying a vast amount of munitions, yet the actual results of their actions have proven to be extremely unsatisfactory. "7,987 enemy guided bombs, 4,985 battles, 115,000 artillery shellings – in just one March. The Russians believe that our resistance can be broken with the iron they pour onto Ukrainian soil. But the truth is that, after expending a record number of guided bombs and hundreds of thousands of shells, the enemy has only managed to capture 160 square kilometers. This is a square with a side of just over 12 kilometers," the Ministry of Defense stated in a message on their Telegram channel last Friday.
It is noteworthy that in March, Russian forces sustained enormous losses, estimated by Ukrainian military officials to be nearly 32,000 personnel. This is the only achievement worthy of attention, emphasized the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. Despite the significant expenditure of munitions and equipment, the Russian army has failed to achieve substantial success on the battlefield, which underscores the resilience of Ukrainian defenders.
These figures indicate that, despite numerous attempts by Russian forces to advance, the Ukrainian army continues to actively resist. Amid constant attacks and shelling, Ukrainian military personnel demonstrate high effectiveness in defending their territory. Notably, a significant portion of the combat operations is taking place in eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops are attempting to consolidate their positions in captured areas.
Thus, March 2023 stands as further evidence that the Russian army, despite its numerous resources, is unable to break the Ukrainian resistance. This highlights the importance of international support for Ukraine, which continues to receive military assistance from its partners. The ongoing hostilities and rising casualties among Russian forces indicate that the war continues, and Ukrainians are prepared to fight for their independence to the last.
