Russians Again Attack Naftogaz Facilities in Poltava Region
Ukrainian energy company Naftogaz has once again come under attack from Russian forces, with drone strikes causing significant damage to its infrastructure in the Poltava region.
According to a report by Ukrinform, the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Serhiy Koretsky, shared details of the latest assault on the company's facilities in a post on Facebook. He revealed that the attacks were carried out using drones, resulting in fires at the infrastructure assets of the Naftogaz Group in Poltava.
Koretsky noted that following the initial strike, a second attack occurred, prompting relevant services to respond to mitigate the consequences. He expressed gratitude to the State Emergency Service (SES) for their prompt reaction to the incident, emphasizing that, fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the shelling.
Additionally, the head of Naftogaz highlighted that Russia continues its targeted attacks on Ukraine's oil, gas, and energy infrastructure. He pointed out that since the beginning of the year, the enemy has attacked Naftogaz facilities more than 40 times, indicating the systematic and aggressive nature of these actions.
This situation is not new, as it was previously reported that on March 27, gas production at one of Naftogaz's facilities in Poltava was suspended due to a Russian shelling. This further confirms that Russia's aggression not only threatens security but also inflicts significant damage on Ukraine's energy independence.
In the face of ongoing attacks on critical infrastructure, Ukrainian energy workers and rescue services continue their efforts to ensure the stability of energy and gas supplies for both the population and industry. It is crucial for society to stay informed about these events and understand how the war impacts the everyday lives of Ukrainians.
