In a recent escalation of violence, three residents of the Donetsk region sustained injuries due to shelling by Russian forces, as reported by Vadim Filashkin, the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, on his Facebook page.
According to Filashkin, the injured individuals were located in three different settlements: Kramatorsk, Oleksiyivka-Druzhkivka, and Rai-Oleksandrivka. These attacks once again highlight the dangers faced by local residents and the brutality of the aggression that has persisted for over a year.
The total number of casualties among the civilian population in Donetsk, according to the regional administration, stands at 4,011 dead and 9,240 injured. It is important to note that these figures do not include data from Mariupol and Volnovakha, where the situation remains extremely complicated.
On April 1, during the midday hours, Kramatorsk was attacked by five Russian strike drones. This resulted in a fire in a multi-story residential building in the city center, leading to injuries for one of the residents. This situation further underscores the peril faced by those living in frontline areas.
Moreover, it is worth noting that shelling of civilian objects that are not military targets constitutes a gross violation of international humanitarian law. Ukrainian authorities and international organizations have repeatedly called for an end to the violence and for the protection of the civilian population.
As of today, the situation in the region remains tense, and local residents continue to live under the constant threat of violence. Authorities are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of the population and provide necessary assistance to those affected.
