In a recent television broadcast, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, reported an increase in Russian military activity in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions, alongside ongoing pressure in the Lyman direction. Trehubov highlighted that the situation has escalated, particularly in the areas of Starytsia and Krasne Pershe, which are part of the South Slobozhansky and Velykoburlutsk directions. He noted, 'The Russians have begun to apply pressure again. There was a certain lull in the Velykoburlutsk direction until recently, but they have now reactivated their efforts. The pressure around Vovchansk is now constant.'
Moreover, Trehubov reported that Russian forces have also intensified their operations in the northernmost part of the Sumy region, which falls under Ukrainian responsibility. He stated, 'The Russians continue attempts to attack in the Kupiansk area from both the north and the east. Additionally, active offensive actions are being conducted in the Lyman area.'
According to Trehubov, the Russian military is making efforts to push Ukrainian units out of Yampol and to reduce the bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Oskil River. He emphasized that despite these developments, there have been no significant changes in the Luhansk region, dismissing Russian claims of complete control over the area as false. 'In any case, we expect that the 'greenery' will begin, with significantly more active infiltrations... If we consider the Russian strategic goal of controlling the Donetsk region, it primarily concerns the Lyman direction in our area of responsibility... We anticipate this, but so far, nothing in our direction indicates any Russian success,' Trehubov remarked.
He further added that in April, the enemy is likely to focus on attempts to infiltrate along the entire front line and state border, with the main emphasis remaining on the Lyman direction due to its strategic importance. This aligns with the broader context of the ongoing conflict, where territorial control and strategic positioning are critical for both sides.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the frontline over the past day, April 1, there were 146 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops. The enemy exerted the most pressure in the Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, and Huliaipole directions, reflecting the ongoing intensity of the conflict.
In light of these developments, the Ukrainian military remains vigilant and prepared for further escalations. The situation continues to evolve, and the Ukrainian forces are committed to defending their positions and repelling any advances by Russian troops. The focus on the Lyman direction underscores the strategic significance of this area in the broader context of the war.
