Russia Launches Five Drone Strikes on Kyiv District of Kharkiv: Mayor Reports Consequences of Attack

On the night and morning of April 2, 2023, the aggressor country Russia executed five strikes using Shahed-type drones on the Kyiv district of Kharkiv, causing significant destruction and fires, confirmed by the city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov.

In a series of aggressive actions, Russia targeted the Kyiv district of Kharkiv with five drone strikes on the night and morning of April 2, 2023. These attacks, utilizing Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles, resulted in considerable destruction and fires, including the ignition of several vehicles, as confirmed by the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov.

In a message posted on Telegram, Mayor Terekhov stated, "The fifth strike on the Kyiv district has occurred. It can be confirmed that the enemy targeted a critical infrastructure facility." This indicates that Russian forces are not only aiming to inflict damage on civilian objects but also on vital infrastructure, which could have serious implications for the city's functionality.

It is important to note that on the evening of April 1, Russian occupiers had also launched an attack using a Molniya combat drone on a residential high-rise building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. As a result of this strike, windows were shattered, and the drone struck the ninth floor of the building. Unfortunately, two individuals sustained injuries from this attack.

Continuing its aggression into the night of April 2, Russia attacked Ukraine with strike drones. In Chuhuiv, located in the Kharkiv region, a Russian drone hit a five-story residential building, injuring three people. These events further confirm that Russia remains relentless in its attempts to harm the Ukrainian population and infrastructure.

The context of these attacks is part of the ongoing war that Russia has waged against Ukraine since 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and began supporting separatists in eastern Ukraine. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, the situation in Ukraine has significantly deteriorated, and such attacks on civilian objects have become commonplace. The international community condemns these actions; however, Russia continues its aggression despite numerous calls for peace.

These events raise concerns among the population, as each new strike brings additional casualties and destruction. Local authorities are urging residents to remain cautious and adhere to safety measures, as the situation remains tense. In response to these attacks, Ukrainian forces continue to defend their territory and population, striving to counter the aggression from Russia.
