Russia Continuously Improves Its Strike Capabilities, Changing Tactics for Attacks on Ukraine

The Russian Federation remains relentless in its efforts to enhance its strike capabilities, constantly altering not only the timing of attacks but also the number of drones and their tactical application, according to Colonel Yuriy Ignat, head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Russian Federation is not pausing in its efforts to improve its strike capabilities, continuously changing not only the time of day for attacks but also the number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and the tactics of their use. This was stated in an interview with Ukrainian Radio by Colonel Yuriy Ignat, the head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ignat noted that the tactics of UAV deployment are constantly evolving, adapting to the nature of the strikes that the enemy attempts to carry out, as well as to the regions that are under attack. 'The tactics of application are constantly somewhat different, changing according to the nature of the strike that the enemy is trying to inflict, and which regions are affected. The time of day also changes. Additionally, they are modernizing their strike capabilities and altering the tactics of application and the number of UAVs. Today, a large number of UAVs are flying from various directions, attacking different regions,' he stated.

Commenting on the morning shelling, Ignat emphasized that this was already the third attack within the day. 'They have attacked during the day before; it’s just that there were fewer drones,' added the colonel, pointing to the increasing activity of the enemy.

According to Ignat, it is difficult to determine the specific targets of the enemy when attacks are carried out across the entire territory of Ukraine. 'The enemy's targets vary: they traditionally strike at infrastructure, energy, and gas extraction sectors. It is clear that they are also interested in logistics. You can see that the railway is suffering from constant enemy attacks, especially from strike UAVs. The enemy is doing everything possible to complicate life for Ukraine as a state and for Ukrainians as a nation,' he noted.

It is worth recalling that earlier, the former commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykola Oleshchuk, reported that the Air Forces shot down almost all cruise missiles used by Russian occupiers to attack Ukraine on the morning of Friday, April 3. This indicates a high level of readiness and effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense forces.

On April 3, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using strike UAVs and missiles from strategic bombers. The main strike was directed at the Kyiv region, but the movement of missiles and drones was also recorded in many other regions of Ukraine. As a result of this attack, two people were killed, underscoring the seriousness of the threat posed by these strikes.

In total, the radio-technical troops of the Air Forces recorded 579 air attack means, as reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Air defense forces shot down or suppressed 541 targets, including 26 missiles and 515 UAVs of various types. Specifically, 24 Kh-101 cruise missiles, 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles, and 515 enemy UAVs of various types were destroyed.

This situation highlights the ongoing threat that Russia poses to Ukraine and the importance of supporting and developing Ukrainian air defense forces in the context of war.
