Russia Attempts to Acquire Arabic Telegram Channels for Anti-Ukrainian Propaganda - SPRAVDI

According to a report by Ukrinform, the SPRAVDI Strategic Communications Center has uncovered that Telegram channel owners targeting Arabic audiences have begun receiving requests to publish materials containing anti-Ukrainian propaganda. These requests aim to disseminate fake news that discredits Ukraine in the eyes of the Arab world.

One specific example cited involves an account under the pseudonym 'Ksenia' from the channel 'Tsukerok', which offers Arab bloggers the opportunity to post videos related to 'the violation of agreements between Ukraine and Arab countries that are being struck by Iranian Shahed drones.' Channel owners receive ready-made materials that only need to be published, presenting them as news.

The Strategic Communications Center emphasizes that 'the scheme is simple: the Kremlin prepares fake content and then buys its placement on Arab channels to make it appear as organic opinion from the local audience.' In this way, Russia seeks to undermine trust in Ukraine within the region, particularly at a time when diplomatic and economic ties between Ukraine and Gulf countries are actively developing.

The Strategic Communications Center also noted that 'the Russians are shocked by the successes of Ukrainian diplomacy in the Gulf - and resort to the only thing they know how to do well: discrediting.' This indicates that Russia is attempting to activate its information campaigns to reduce Ukraine's influence in Arab countries.

Furthermore, as reported by Ukrinform, Russian information resources have also intensified the dissemination of narratives portraying Ukraine as a 'terrorist state,' using information about strikes on oil terminals, oil refineries in Ufa, and other facilities within Russia. These actions reflect Russia's attempts to create a negative image of Ukraine on the international stage.

Such actions by the Kremlin raise concerns as they could significantly impact the perception of Ukraine in the Arab world, where information campaigns can have a substantial influence on public opinion. In a context where Ukraine is striving to strengthen its position in the region, such attempts by Russia could undermine its efforts.

Given these facts, it is crucial for Ukrainian media and state structures to remain vigilant regarding the informational challenges emanating from Russia and to respond actively by providing truthful information and debunking falsehoods. This will enable Ukraine to maintain its credibility in the international context and counter the information attacks from the aggressor.
