Russia Attacks Odesa: Three Dead, Including a Child, and Power Outages in Chernihiv

On the morning of April 6, Russian forces launched a massive missile attack on Odesa, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including a child, and leaving at least ten others injured. This information was confirmed by Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

Russian troops executed a large-scale missile assault on the city of Odesa early on April 6, leading to the tragic loss of three lives, among them a child, and injuring at least ten others. Serhiy Lysak, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration (OVA), reported that two of the injured individuals are in critical condition. One patient is undergoing neurosurgery, while the other is in intensive care with severe burns. Medical personnel are actively providing urgent care to those affected.

Among the injured are a two-year-old child and two teenagers aged 17 and 18. Their conditions have been assessed as stable. The attack targeted civilian infrastructure across two districts of the city, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by residents.

In the Primorsky district, a multi-story residential building and seven private homes were damaged. Emergency services are currently on-site, clearing debris and boarding up shattered windows. In the Kyiv district, one high-rise building and five private houses sustained damage due to the assault.

Additionally, a private kindergarten, a store, and a parking lot were hit, resulting in damage to 27 vehicles. Emergency response headquarters have been established at the attack sites. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, as there are concerns that individuals may still be trapped under the rubble, according to information from the State Emergency Service (SES).

Russia continues its assault on Odesa using Shahed-type drones, which typically approach from the direction of the Black Sea. Meanwhile, a separate large-scale attack in the Chernihiv region has caused significant disruptions to the electrical grid.

It is noteworthy that Chernihivoblenergo reported that the initial strike damaged an energy facility in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district, leaving over 10,000 consumers without electricity. At 5:34 AM, another facility in the Nizhyn district was struck, resulting in approximately 340,000 subscribers in Chernihiv and Pryluky, as well as surrounding areas, being left without power.

In an update at 8:13 AM, the company announced that additional damage to energy facilities has led to even greater disruptions in electricity supply. These events underscore the persistent threat that Russia poses to Ukrainian cities and the urgent need to enhance defensive measures to protect the civilian population.
