Russia Launches Massive Drone Attack on Ukraine, Three Killed in Odesa
In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russia conducted a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 141 strike drones, which resulted in the tragic loss of three lives in Odesa, including a child.
In the early hours of Monday, April 6, the aggressor state of Russia executed a large-scale attack on Ukrainian territory, utilizing 141 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other drones. This alarming information was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, highlighting the severity of the situation and the scale of aggression faced by the nation.
As of the morning of April 6, Ukraine's air defense forces managed to shoot down or suppress 114 enemy drones that attacked from the north, south, and east of the country. This data underscores the active efforts of Ukrainian military personnel who are standing firm against Russian aggression.
The Russian occupiers launched their drones from several regions, including Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), as well as from Hvardiyske and Chauda, located in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. This indicates a coordinated attack from multiple directions, complicating the tasks of Ukraine's defense forces.
The response to the aerial assault involved Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups. As a result of the active measures taken by Ukrainian military forces, 26 strike drones were reported to have hit 17 different locations, with debris falling in 13 areas, further emphasizing the serious threat that the country faces.
However, despite the successful actions of the air defense, several Russian drones still remain in Ukrainian airspace, as warned by the Air Forces. This situation raises concerns among the population and military personnel, as the danger has not yet passed.
Particularly tragic consequences of the attack were observed in Odesa, where three people, including a child, were killed as a result of strikes from Shahed drones. Additionally, 10 individuals sustained injuries. The attack inflicted significant damage on the city, with multi-story and private homes, critical infrastructure, and administrative buildings suffering extensive harm. This incident once again highlights the brutality and disregard of Russian military actions towards the civilian population.
Simultaneously, in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district of Chernihiv region, a Russian attack damaged an energy facility, leaving over 10,000 subscribers without electricity. This is yet another example of how Russian strikes harm not only military targets but also civilian infrastructure, leading to serious consequences for the local population.
