Russia Attacks Bus in Nikopol with FPV Drone: Three Dead, Twelve Injured
On Tuesday, April 7, a tragic attack in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region, resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to twelve others when a Russian FPV drone struck a city bus. The incident has raised serious concerns about the ongoing threat to civilians amid the ongoing conflict.
On Tuesday, April 7, in the center of Nikopol, located in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine, Russia launched an attack on a city bus using an FPV drone. This assault led to tragic consequences: three people lost their lives, and twelve others sustained injuries. This information was reported by Oleksandr Hanzha, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, via his Telegram channel.
According to Hanzha, the bus was approaching a stop when the drone struck, resulting in people being caught both inside the bus and at the stop. "This was not an accidental strike. It is a deliberate act of terror against civilians. Against people who were simply going about their business," emphasized Hanzha, highlighting the brutality of the attack.
Mykola Lukashuk, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, clarified that among the deceased were two women and one man. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko also expressed his concern, noting that rescuers have been working at the scene from the very first moments. Thanks to their efforts, seven people were successfully freed and rescued.
"This is a brutal strike against civilian public transport. During rush hour, when people are commuting to work," Klymenko remarked, underscoring the irresponsibility of the aggressor. Andriy Kovalенко, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, also reacted to the incident, stating that Russia had previously announced its intent to terrorize civilians. "In Nikopol, an FPV drone struck a minibus - there are fatalities. They continue to commit war crimes deliberately. For them, war means striking civilians," he wrote in his post.
This attack is not an isolated incident. Just the day before, on April 6, Russian forces also targeted Nikopol using FPV drones and artillery. During that attack, nine people were injured, including a 1.5-year-old girl. These events highlight the ongoing threats posed by Russian military actions to the civilian population of Ukraine.
Nikopol, situated on the right bank of the Dnipro River, has become one of the cities suffering from Russian aggression. Local residents face daily dangers associated with military actions that have persisted for over a year. Attacks on civilian infrastructure, such as strikes on buses, form part of the terror strategy employed by the aggressor.
This situation has sparked outrage not only within Ukraine but also beyond its borders. The international community continues to condemn the war crimes committed by Russia and calls for accountability for those responsible. The situation in Nikopol serves as a stark example of how war impacts the lives of ordinary people, who become victims of senseless aggression.
