Ukrainian Defense Manufacturers Ranking: Ukroboronprom Rises in Global List
A detailed analysis by NV has revealed a ranking of Ukrainian defense manufacturers based on their annual revenue, highlighting significant shifts in Ukraine's defense policy amid ongoing military challenges.
As a result of a thorough analysis of reports from domestic defense industry companies, the publication NV has compiled a ranking of weapon manufacturers that achieved the highest annual revenues. This ranking not only reflects financial performance but also strategic changes in Ukraine's defense policy, which have arisen from delays in military assistance from Western partners.
The ongoing confrontation with Russia has compelled Ukraine to actively develop its own defense industry. In a situation where it is impossible to strike Russian territory using Western weapons, Ukrainian arms manufacturers have begun to implement new technologies. Domestic long-range drones are now regularly targeting Russian oil refineries, while intercepting drones designed to counter Shahed drones have become a Ukrainian innovation that has garnered interest from Gulf countries amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
According to a recent analysis by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Ukroboronprom's revenue in 2024 increased by 41%, reaching $3 billion, compared to $2.2 billion the previous year. This revenue growth has allowed the Ukrainian arms manufacturer to rise from 57th to 52nd place in the ranking of the world's 100 largest defense companies. This indicates an increasing competitiveness of Ukraine's defense industry on the international stage.
To create the ranking, NV relied on data from the analytical system YouControl and the Opendatabot service, analyzing the annual financial reports of domestic weapons manufacturers. The focus was on companies engaged in the production of weapons and military equipment, without specialization in the manufacture of individual components or weapon parts. The year 2024 served as the basis for the analysis, as it represents the most recent and comprehensive financial reporting available to date.
The NV ranking includes ten companies that achieved the highest revenues and reflects the trends in the development of the Ukrainian defense industry. Among them are both well-known players and new entrants who are actively implementing innovations and technologies into production. This indicates that Ukraine is not only attempting to adapt to new conditions but is also actively developing its own potential in the defense sector.
Thus, Ukrainian arms manufacturers are demonstrating confident growth, which is a crucial factor in the context of the war with Russia. The increase in revenues and improvement in global rankings indicate that Ukraine is capable of not only defending its interests but also becoming a significant player in the international arms market.
