Rac Anber: Usyk's Cutman Comments on Fury vs. Mahmoudov Fight
Rac Anber, the cutman for boxing superstar Oleksandr Usyk, shared his insights on the upcoming clash between former world champion Tyson Fury and Russian fighter Arslanbek Mahmoudov.
Rac Anber, known as the cutman for heavyweight superstar Oleksandr Usyk, who boasts an impressive record of 24 wins, 0 losses, and 15 knockouts, has expressed his thoughts on the highly anticipated fight between former world champion Tyson Fury, whose record stands at 34 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, and Russian contender Arslanbek Mahmoudov, who has a record of 21 wins and 2 losses, with 19 of those victories coming by way of knockout.
Anber pointed out that many people consider Mahmoudov to be an easy opponent for Fury. However, he emphasized that while Fury undoubtedly possesses the boxing skills that could make this fight straightforward, Mahmoudov's size could play a crucial role. "Mahmoudov has the ability to lift Tyson Fury and execute a suplex. You know, he’s a big guy. So this will be a tough fight," Anber noted.
He further added that for Mahmoudov, if he has any hope of victory, it will be essential for him to target Fury's body. "If he has to turn Tyson over, he needs to do that," Anber stated, underscoring that if Mahmoudov allows Fury to move freely, throw jabs, and dictate the pace of the fight, victory will likely go to Tyson.
The Canadian cutman also elaborated on how one might defeat the Gypsy King, referencing Oleksandr Usyk's successes in bouts against Fury. "The secret to beating Tyson is to make him do what he doesn’t want to do. I think that’s exactly what Usyk did so well. He made Fury fight at a pace he wasn’t comfortable with," Anber explained.
He emphasized that Usyk took Fury out of his comfort zone, forcing him to move in ways he didn’t want to, and it was Oleksandr who held the matador's cape, changing the course of the fight. "Usyk changed the fight," Anber highlighted, stressing the importance of the psychological aspect in boxing matches.
It is worth noting that the fight between Tyson Fury and Arslanbek Mahmoudov is scheduled for April 11. This will be Fury's first bout after two losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. Recall that on May 18, 2024, the Ukrainian secured a victory over Fury by split decision, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in history.
In December of the same year, Tyson suffered another defeat—this time by unanimous decision in a rematch. Following this, he announced his retirement from boxing, but a year later, he revealed his return to the ring, generating significant interest among boxing fans.
Previously, we also reported that Usyk's cutman expressed his thoughts on Itayuma's chances in a potential fight against the Ukrainian, further highlighting the activity and tension in the world of professional boxing.
