Putin Has Yet to Make a Decision on Easter Ceasefire, Says Peskov

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has not made any decisions regarding a potential Easter ceasefire, according to his spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. This statement was made during a briefing on Thursday, April 9.

During a press briefing on April 9, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced that no decisions have been made concerning a ceasefire for Easter. This information was reported by Russian state media, which typically reflects the Kremlin's position.

Peskov did not provide any details regarding Ukraine's readiness for a temporary ceasefire during the Easter holiday, which Orthodox Christians will celebrate on April 12 this year. The issue remains open, and the Kremlin's stance appears uncertain.

The spokesperson also made a cynical remark claiming that the aggressor nation, Russia, supposedly poses "no threat to any state that does not plan to destroy the Russian-speaking population and undermine the security" of the Russian Federation. These comments from Peskov have sparked outrage, as they do not reflect the reality of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

As expected, Peskov dismissed concerns raised by France regarding Russian aggression and falsely claimed that Moscow is seeking "mutually beneficial relations" with European countries, which he stated are "not engaging in contact." These statements indicate that the Kremlin has no intention of changing its aggressive policy.

It is worth noting that on March 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire during Easter. This was an attempt by the Ukrainian leadership to find a path to peace and reduce violence during the holiday.

On March 31, Peskov responded that Russia "has not seen a clearly formulated initiative" regarding a ceasefire, traditionally rejecting Ukraine's proposal. This response suggests that the Kremlin is not interested in peace negotiations and continues to adhere to an aggressive strategy.

On April 6, Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine is prepared to mirror its strikes on Russian energy infrastructure if Russia halts its attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities. This indicates Ukraine's willingness to compromise; however, the Kremlin's reaction remains uncertain.

Thus, the situation surrounding the Easter ceasefire remains unclear, and Russia's subsequent actions could significantly impact the developments in Ukraine.
