Air Defense Forces Neutralize 77 Out of 110 Drones: Strikes Recorded at 14 Locations, Attack Ongoing

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russian occupation forces launched a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 110 strike drones of various types, including the notorious Shahed models. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted and neutralized 77 of these drones by 8:00 AM on April 7, 2023.

In the early hours of April 7, 2023, Russian occupation forces executed a large-scale assault on Ukrainian territory, utilizing a total of 110 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of various types, among which were Shahed drones, 'Herbera', Italmas, and other models. Reports indicate that approximately 70 of these drones belonged to the 'Shahed' type, which have gained notoriety for their capability to inflict damage on critical infrastructure.

According to preliminary data, by 8:00 AM, Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down and suppress 77 enemy UAVs, which included Shahed, 'Herbera', Italmas drones, and others. These defensive actions were carried out across the northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country, indicating the extensive scale of the attack that spanned various areas of Ukraine.

Furthermore, strikes from 31 attack UAVs were recorded at 14 locations throughout Ukraine. The debris from the downed drones was also noted to have fallen at 9 different sites, suggesting that the assault was not only massive but also quite effective in terms of the damage inflicted.

To counter the aerial assault, Ukrainian forces deployed aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups. This coordinated effort among various units allowed for a significant reduction in the number of enemy drones that reached their targets, thereby preventing substantial destruction.

As of now, the attack is still ongoing, and hostile UAVs remain present in the airspace. Ukrainian defense forces continue to work diligently to eliminate the remnants of enemy drones to protect civilians and the country's critical infrastructure. It is important to note that such attacks from Russia have become frequent in recent months, posing a serious threat to the safety of Ukrainian cities and villages.

This situation underscores the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense system and to ensure the provision of additional resources for effective responses to such threats. Amidst the constant threat posed by Russian forces, Ukrainian defense units are demonstrating a high level of readiness and professionalism in their actions, which undoubtedly deserves support and recognition from the international community.
