Ukrainian Air Defense Shoots Down 147 of 172 Drones, 22 Strikes Hit 12 Locations
Ukrainian air defense forces have achieved significant success in combating enemy drones, destroying 147 out of 172 attacking UAVs. However, despite these efforts, 22 strike drones managed to hit 12 different locations.
Ukrainian air defense has made remarkable strides in the fight against hostile drones, successfully neutralizing 147 out of 172 attacking unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This information was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, highlighting the importance of these events in the context of the ongoing war.
As of 08:00, preliminary data indicated that the Ukrainian air defense had destroyed or suppressed 147 enemy drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas, which were conducting attacks in the northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country. This showcases the high level of readiness and effectiveness of the Ukrainian military in countering aerial threats.
On the night of April 2, beginning at 18:00 on April 1, the adversary launched a massive attack using 172 strike UAVs, which included Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other models. The attack was conducted from various directions, including Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation, as well as from territories temporarily occupied in the Donetsk region and Crimea. Approximately 120 of these drones were Shaheds, which are known to be one of the primary means of striking the enemy.
To repel the aerial assault, Ukrainian forces deployed aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and drone systems. Mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were also actively engaged, which helped reduce the number of enemy drones that were able to reach their targets.
Despite the significant successes of the air defense, 22 strike UAVs were confirmed to have hit 12 locations, with debris from the downed drones falling in eight of these areas. This underscores that the aerial threat remains relevant, and Ukrainian forces continue to work on enhancing their defensive capabilities.
The command of the Ukrainian Air Forces also noted that the attack is ongoing, and several enemy UAVs remain in the airspace. This situation indicates that the adversary is not halting its attempts to inflict damage on Ukraine, and Ukrainian military forces remain vigilant, ready for any challenges.
Thus, the events of recent days reaffirm that Ukraine's air defense is capable of effectively responding to aerial threats; however, the challenges remain serious, and the fight continues.
