Ports of Odesa and Klaipeda Sign Cooperation Memorandum
The administration of Odesa Sea Port has announced the signing of a cooperation memorandum with Klaipeda Port, marking a significant step in strengthening international ties and enhancing port infrastructure in Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, the administration of Odesa Sea Port declared the signing of a cooperation memorandum with Klaipeda Port. This important event took place on Thursday, when a delegation from the Lithuanian port, led by General Director Algis Latakas, visited the Odesa branch of the State Enterprise "Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine".
During the meeting held at Odesa Sea Port, the delegation was welcomed by the port's administration head, Dmytro Nazarenko. The event also included representatives from the leadership of the State Enterprise "AMPU", highlighting the significance of collaboration between Ukrainian and Lithuanian ports.
During discussions, the parties focused on key issues such as the functioning of the Ukrainian corridor, the development of port infrastructure, and the prospects for modernizing port capacities, particularly in the context of martial law. These issues are extremely relevant for ensuring the stable operation of the port sector in Ukraine.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at developing partnerships and exchanging experiences between the ports of Odesa and Klaipeda. Nazarenko noted that the support of international partners is crucial for the stable operation of the port sector in Ukraine. He also emphasized that the signing of this memorandum has already yielded practical results, including the receipt of necessary technical assistance from Lithuanian colleagues to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the port.
The leadership of the Odesa branch of the State Enterprise "AMPU" expressed gratitude to their European partners for timely support and effective cooperation, which is a vital aspect in the development of Ukraine's port infrastructure.
The administration of Odesa Sea Port also reminded that the agreement to sign the memorandum was reached back in October 2025 during the Baltexpo 2025 exhibition held in Poland. This indicates the longevity and seriousness of the intentions of both parties regarding cooperation.
Furthermore, representatives from Klaipeda Port confirmed their interest in investment projects related to Ukraine's port infrastructure. This opens new opportunities for the development and modernization of ports in Ukraine, which is particularly important in light of current challenges.
Thus, the signing of the memorandum between the ports of Odesa and Klaipeda is a significant step in strengthening international relations and developing port infrastructure in Ukraine, which in turn will contribute to improving the economic situation in the region.
