Injured Ukrainian Defenders Celebrate Easter with Diaspora in Three U.S. Cities

Ukrainian soldiers undergoing treatment in the United States celebrated Easter alongside the Ukrainian diaspora, a heartfelt event made possible by the efforts of Revived Soldiers Ukraine (RSU).

According to Ukrinform, Ukrainian military personnel receiving medical care in the United States celebrated Easter in the company of the Ukrainian diaspora. This event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Revived Soldiers Ukraine (RSU), an organization that actively supports wounded soldiers.

In Chicago, the RSU team, along with the soldiers, attended a festive liturgy at St. Joseph the Betrothed Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church. Following the service, the defenders enjoyed an Easter meal at the residence of Bishop Venedykt Alekseychuk. During the event, soldiers Maksym Korzh and Ihor Yefimenko, who successfully completed their treatment and complex prosthetics, addressed the attendees as they prepared to return to Ukraine. Ihor Yefimenko notably expressed gratitude for his life being saved thanks to the efforts of the medical team at UIC Hospital.

“We extend our special thanks to Venedykt Alekseychuk for the invitation to the festive meal, his sincere attention, and the opportunity to spend this day together in the warm and gracious atmosphere of Bright Easter,” stated representatives of the RSU organization.

In Florida, soldiers Andriy Pylypchuk, Ivan Holyk, and Borys Rachynskyi, who are currently undergoing the prosthetics process, also attended an Easter liturgy at a Ukrainian Catholic Church. They were joined by RSU President Iryna Vashchuk-Disipio. The community and Father Roman Kuzminskyi organized a festive meal for the defenders, which served as an important support in their recovery process.

Philadelphia also became a place where Ukrainian defenders had the opportunity to celebrate Easter. The Revived Soldiers Ukraine team, along with fighters Serhiy Serhiyenko, Ilya Haiduk, Oleksandr Kungurov, and Roman Kartsev, prayed during the festive liturgy at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The organization expressed deep gratitude to Archbishop-Metropolitan Borys Gudziak for the invitation and tireless care for the wounded heroes.

“During these Easter days, our defenders felt that they are not alone. That a strong Ukrainian community stands beside them. That faith is also a strength. Together, we support, restore, and give hope to our heroes,” emphasized Revived Soldiers Ukraine.

Revived Soldiers Ukraine is a non-profit organization aimed at providing medical assistance and rehabilitation to Ukrainian servicemen in leading hospitals across the United States. This organization actively works to support Ukrainian defenders who are returning to peaceful life after injuries.

It is worth noting that recently, friends of Ukraine and activists gathered in the heart of Washington to honor the memory of the victims of Russian aggression. This event, organized by the US Ukrainian Activists (USUA), was dedicated to the 1500 days since the onset of the full-scale invasion and 12 years of Ukrainian resistance. Such events underscore the importance of supporting the Ukrainian people and their defenders during this challenging time.
