Renowned Medical Scientist Boris Zimenkovsky Passes Away
The medical community is mourning the loss of Boris Semenovich Zimenkovsky, a distinguished Ukrainian scientist, whose death was announced by the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (NAMN) via social media.
The sad news of the passing of Boris Semenovich Zimenkovsky, a prominent Ukrainian scholar in the field of medicine, was shared by the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (NAMN) through Facebook. This loss marks a significant event for the medical community and for all who knew and respected his work.
In the academy's statement, it was noted: "Boris Semenovich was a well-known specialist in the field of medicine, dedicating his life to the advancement of medical science, the training of highly qualified personnel, and strengthening the healthcare system of Ukraine. His professional path is an example of dedication to the cause, high professionalism, and service to the people." These words highlight not only Zimenkovsky's professional achievements but also his human qualities that made him an outstanding figure in Ukrainian medicine.
Boris Semenovich Zimenkovsky was born on April 18, 1940, in Berezhany, located in the Ternopil region. His journey into science began in 1963 when he graduated from the pharmaceutical faculty of Lviv Medical Institute. Following this, he became a renowned researcher in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry, as well as an organizer of higher medical education in Ukraine. Zimenkovsky was a laureate of the State Prize in the field of science and technology, which attests to his significant contribution to the development of science.
Throughout his career, Boris Zimenkovsky held numerous important positions. He was a distinguished professor at the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, an honorary doctor of Lublin Medical University, and the president of the Galician Pharmaceutical Association. Additionally, he was a member of the Scientific Medical Council of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the European Association for International Education, the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, the International Academy of Sciences, Technologies and Engineering, as well as many other scientific associations.
Zimenkovsky's scientific contributions are impressive: he is the author of over 860 publications, including three monographs, 17 textbooks and manuals, 75 author certificates, and 55 patents. His works have laid the foundation for many studies in the fields of medicine and pharmacy, and have also helped prepare a new generation of medical specialists.
The death of Boris Semenovich is a great loss for all who knew and respected him. As reported by Ukrinform, in March of this year, Ukrainian poet and prose writer, public figure, founder and chief editor of the literary and artistic magazine "Zolota Pectoral" Volodymyr Pohoretsky also passed away. These events underscore the importance of valuing and remembering those who have made significant contributions to the development of our culture and science.
