The ministry expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, emphasizing that his professionalism, responsibility, and dedication to work will forever remain in the memory of all who knew Igor Oleksandrovych. 'Eternal memory,' the statement concluded.
Igor Mityukov served as Ukraine's Minister of Finance from 1997 to 2001, working under the governments of Valeriy Pustovoytenko and Viktor Yushchenko. During this period, he was actively involved in reforming the financial system, which marked a crucial stage in the development of the country's economy following its independence.
After completing his tenure as Minister of Finance, Mityukov became Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, where he served until 2005. He also represented Ukraine at the International Maritime Organization, highlighting his active international engagement and influence on the global stage.
In 2006, Igor Mityukov was appointed as an advisor to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, and in 2010, he became a freelance advisor to former President Yanukovych. This period of his life was also associated with important economic reforms aimed at improving the financial situation in the country.
From 2008 to 2014, Mityukov held the position of Managing Director at Morgan Stanley Investment Bank in Ukraine. He also chaired the Supervisory Board of the National Depository of Ukraine and was an independent member of the Supervisory Board of Oschadbank, underscoring his active involvement in the development of financial institutions in Ukraine.
In November 2016, Igor Mityukov became the head of the Supervisory Board of the National Depository of Ukraine, where he continued to work on enhancing the country's financial system. However, on May 20, 2020, the government decided to dismiss him from the Supervisory Board of Oschadbank, and on June 3 of the same year, PJSC National Depository of Ukraine also relieved him of his position as head of the Supervisory Board.
At the time of his death, Mityukov was still serving as the head of the Supervisory Board of Ukrposhta, where he had worked for over two years, according to the National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine. His activities in this institution also demonstrated his commitment to the development of Ukraine's financial system and support for state initiatives in this area.
