Cold Snap in Ukraine: Frost, Snow, and Strong Winds Expected This Week
Ukrainian meteorologist Oksana Sklyar has announced a significant drop in temperatures across the country, bringing frost, snow, and strong winds in the coming days.
Oksana Sklyar, a meteorologist from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, has provided a weather forecast for the upcoming days, indicating that Ukraine will experience a cold snap that will bring with it frost, snow, and strong winds. This information was published on the official Facebook page of the institution and was also conveyed by a correspondent from Ukrinform.
According to Sklyar, the weather in Ukraine over the next few days will be influenced by a northern atmospheric process. "A cyclone from Scandinavia will move eastward. In its rear part, there will be an influx of arctic air from northern directions into our territory," she noted. This will result in moderate rain expected tomorrow night in the southeast of the country, while no precipitation is forecasted for the rest of the territory. During the day, light rain is possible across all of Ukraine.
Sklyar also pointed out that on Wednesday and Thursday, atmospheric fronts may cause light rain mixed with wet snow, particularly on Thursday in the Carpathians, where snow is expected with moderate intensity. "Over the next few days, Ukraine will observe the accumulation of precipitation in liquid form starting Tuesday, with gradual snow accumulation expected in the Carpathians," she added.
The meteorologist warned that over the next three days, nighttime temperatures in Ukraine will fluctuate between +1 and +7 degrees Celsius. "However, please note that tomorrow in the western, northern, and central regions, as well as on April 8 and 9, ground frost is possible from 0 to 3 degrees in the air in the east and northeast, which is dangerous for plant vegetation. During the day, temperatures are expected to range from 2 to 9 degrees Celsius, while in the southern part, it will be between 8 and 13 degrees," emphasized Sklyar.
She also mentioned that the coldest nights will be in the Carpathians, and the cold air will continue to spread across the entire territory of Ukraine, while the warmest conditions will remain in the southern regions of the country. "As for the wind, it will predominantly be northwesterly, moving at a speed of 7-12 meters per second. However, tomorrow in the west of the country, wind gusts may reach 15-20 meters per second," the meteorologist added.
It is worth noting that on Tuesday, cloudy weather with clearings is expected in Ukraine, with moderate rain possible at night in the southeast, while no precipitation is forecasted for the rest of the territory. Light rain is predicted during the day across all of Ukraine. Meteorologists urge citizens to exercise caution in changing weather conditions and to follow recommendations for protecting plants from frost.
