Hourly Power Outages to Be Implemented in Ukraine Starting April 9, Says Ukrenergo
Beginning April 9, Ukraine will implement hourly power outages across all regions of the country, according to a statement from Ukrenergo. The company emphasized that these measures are necessary due to a power supply deficit in the energy system.
On Thursday, April 9, Ukraine will introduce schedules for hourly power outages that will be enforced in all regions of the country. This announcement was made by Ukrenergo, which highlighted that such measures are essential due to a deficit in capacity within the energy system.
According to the information provided by Ukrenergo, restrictions for residential consumers will be in effect from 07:00 to 22:00, while industrial consumers will face outages from 07:00 to 23:00. These measures are part of a nationwide strategy aimed at ensuring the stability of electricity supply amid high levels of energy consumption.
Previously, on April 8, Ukrenergo had already reported the necessity of implementing hourly outage schedules from 19:00 to 22:00 across all regions of Ukraine. This indicates that the situation regarding energy supply remains tense and requires ongoing monitoring.
The company DTEK also confirmed that in Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odesa regions, outage schedules will be applied. This decision is a direct result of recent attacks on energy facilities, which have significantly impacted the overall state of the energy system.
As explained by Ukrenergo, the introduction of these restrictions is linked to the consequences of previous Russian attacks on energy facilities that have led to a power supply deficit. In the context of high energy consumption levels, such measures are deemed necessary to ensure the stability of electricity supply.
On April 6, Russian forces attacked a DTEK energy facility in the Odesa region. The company noted that the destruction resulting from the attack is substantial, and the restoration of infrastructure will require significant time and resources. This further underscores the vulnerability of the country's energy infrastructure amid ongoing military actions.
Additionally, on the same day, an energy facility in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district of the Chernihiv region was damaged due to a Russian attack. This indicates that energy facilities across Ukraine remain under threat, prompting energy companies to take additional measures to ensure the stability of power supply.
Thus, the introduction of hourly power outages is a necessary step to support Ukraine's energy system in the face of increasing power deficits caused by external threats and military actions.
