Investigation Launched into Actions of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment Skelya: Accusations of Heavy Losses for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

On Thursday, April 2, it was announced that the higher military command of Ukraine has begun a service investigation into the actions of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment Skelya, which has been accused of orchestrating assaults that led to substantial casualties among the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This information was revealed in an official statement from the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces.

The statement read: "The actions in question are being examined and investigated by the higher military command. A service investigation is underway. We ask that you refrain from disseminating unprofessional assessments, as they could negatively impact the ongoing military operations in the Pokrovsk agglomeration." These words underscore the seriousness of the situation and the necessity of maintaining information security during the investigation.

The situation escalated after volunteer and advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Serhiy Sternenko, accused the commanders of the 425th Skelya Regiment, claiming they organized assaults that resulted in heavy losses among Ukrainian troops. In response to these accusations, representatives of the unit stated that the information cited by Sternenko was derived from Russian sources, calling into question its reliability.

Sternenko published several screenshots that he claimed depicted "remnants of the 425th Skelya Regiment's equipment near Pokrovsk," which had been destroyed by the enemy. However, he did not specify the date of the battle, raising additional questions about the veracity of his claims. In response, representatives of the regiment emphasized that Sternenko had drawn conclusions based on videos published by Russian occupiers, asserting that their information did not correspond to reality.

According to representatives of the 425th Skelya Regiment, on March 31, their fighters conducted a "successful counterattack" on one of the key tactical objectives in Pokrovsk, which had previously been seized by the occupiers. They claim that as a result of the fighting on March 31, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed near armored vehicles from enemy drone strikes, highlighting the seriousness of the situation at the front.

Later, the analytical project DeepState published a screenshot confirming the information about the battle on March 31. According to preliminary data from the project, the Ukrainian column was unable to reach Pokrovsk, as it "was detected and burned by the enemy during the advance." This has raised new questions regarding the tactics and strategies employed by the unit.

The situation surrounding the 425th Separate Assault Regiment Skelya underscores the complexity and tension of the combat operations in eastern Ukraine, where each battle can be crucial for the further development of the conflict.
