Pause in Peace Negotiations Will Last Until the End of the War in the Middle East - Office of the President

In a recent television broadcast, Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine, announced that peace negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine are currently on hold due to ongoing military actions in the Middle East.

In a recent television broadcast, Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine, announced that peace negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine are currently on hold due to ongoing military actions in the Middle East, which significantly affect the international political landscape. Podolyak emphasized that despite the suspension of the political-military aspect of the negotiations, humanitarian issues continue to be addressed. He noted that the President of Ukraine and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, have already announced opportunities for continuing prisoner exchanges, indicating active efforts in this area.

Podolyak stated, "As long as the war in the Middle East continues, negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine will remain on pause." This indicates that the Ukrainian side cannot engage in constructive negotiations under conditions where the international situation remains tense. It is important to highlight that in the context of global politics, conflicts in various regions of the world can significantly influence both the internal and external relations of states, including Ukraine.

The advisor to the President's Office also drew attention to the changing attitude towards Russia due to its support for Iran in conflict situations in the Middle East. Podolyak stated that "the attitude towards Russia is irreversibly changing," and this pertains not only to Ukraine but also to the international community as a whole. He noted that "it is now catastrophically concluding its evolution from a neutral-positive attitude to an overtly negative one." This may indicate that Russia is losing support on the international stage due to its actions, which raise concerns in many countries.

Furthermore, Podolyak emphasized that the perception of Ukraine has also changed. "Ukraine's subjectivity has significantly increased," he said, pointing out that the international community increasingly recognizes Ukraine's importance in global security issues. This could be a result of Ukraine's active diplomatic efforts and support from Western partners.

It is worth recalling that the previous meeting of the negotiating teams took place in Florida on March 21-22, 2023, in a bilateral format between Ukraine and the United States. This meeting was an important step in the negotiations, but now, given the new circumstances, further steps remain uncertain.

In light of these events, it is crucial to monitor the developments in the Middle East, as they may have serious consequences for Ukraine and its peace efforts. It is also noteworthy that the Ukrainian side continues to seek ways to support humanitarian initiatives despite political difficulties.
