Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has recently found himself in the spotlight due to a leaked conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, asserting that he sees nothing wrong with his remarks. During the Blikk Talk program on April 8, he addressed the details of the conversation that have attracted significant media attention, stating that his comment about being willing to 'become Putin's mouse' is not compromising.

In discussing the uproar surrounding the leaked conversation, Orban emphasized that a friendly tone of communication between leaders is a common practice. 'We have relationships with the President of the United States, with many European leaders, the President of Russia, leaders from some Central Asian countries, where we call each other friends – and even with some leaders of Muslim countries... I wouldn't see anything special in this,' he remarked.

When asked how he would react to a similar situation involving his political opponent Peter Madjar and German MEP Manfred Weber, Orban replied that Hungary 'does not eavesdrop on political opponents.' He also added that Hungarian intelligence services are currently investigating how the transcript of his conversation with Putin reached journalists.

This situation has raised many questions regarding Hungary's foreign policy, particularly in the context of its relations with Russia. Recently, the journalistic project Vsquare published new details of a conversation between Hungarian Foreign Minister with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. These details confirm the close coordination between the countries, especially on issues that harm Ukraine.

Critics of Orban believe that his openness in communication with Putin could negatively impact Hungary's image on the international stage. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister insists that his approach is part of normal diplomatic practice, which involves open dialogue with all countries, regardless of their political systems.

Many experts point out that such statements may be an attempt by Orban to solidify his position domestically, where he has support from certain political circles advocating for closer ties with Moscow. However, in the context of Russia's international isolation, such a policy may provoke mixed reactions both within Hungary and beyond its borders.

Thus, the situation surrounding Orban's conversation with Putin continues to be a subject of discussion and analysis, as it raises important questions about Hungary's foreign policy, its relations with Russia, and the impact on regional security.
