Revitalization of Public Space in Central Kyiv: New Plans for the Site of the Lenin Monument

In the center of Kyiv, at the intersection of Taras Shevchenko Boulevard and Khreshchatyk Street, a significant update to the public space is being planned. This area, which was marked by the monument to Vladimir Lenin until 2013, has remained off-limits to pedestrians for many years following its dismantling. Now, local authorities intend to transform this territory into a comfortable and accessible space for all residents and visitors of the capital.

This information was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA). According to the agency, the square in front of the Bessarabsky Market is currently not functioning as a full-fledged public space. It does not meet modern accessibility standards, as crossing the road here is only possible via an underground passage that is inaccessible to wheelchair users, parents with strollers, and many other categories of citizens.

Kyivavtodor, in turn, has already begun procurement procedures for the necessary materials and services to implement this project. Construction is planned to be completed by 2027. This will mark an important step in the development of the capital's infrastructure and the improvement of the quality of life for Kyiv residents.

The revitalization of the public space in central Kyiv is part of a broader strategy by the city government aimed at creating comfortable and accessible conditions for all residents of the capital.
