Oleksandr Usyk Announces Boxing Evening in Giza with Exciting Undercard Fights

World heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has shared his expectations for the upcoming boxing evening in Giza, where he will face renowned Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven in the main event.

World champion in the heavyweight division according to WBC, WBA, and IBF, Oleksandr Usyk, has expressed his excitement for the upcoming boxing evening scheduled to take place in Giza. In the main event of this highly anticipated event, Usyk will go head-to-head with famous Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven. Actively engaging fans through his social media account on X, Usyk emphasized that the evening promises to be incredibly interesting.

“Giza will feature a very strong undercard. These are not just fights before the main event; they are real battles. Everyone who steps into the ring will have the opportunity to prove they are worthy of this stage. Don’t miss it,” Usyk wrote, urging fans to attend the event.

It is noteworthy that all the matchups for the boxing show in Giza have been announced. Among them are: Usyk vs. Verhoeven, Hamza Shiraz vs. Alem Begić (for the WBO title), Jack Catterall vs. Shahram Giyasov (for the WBA Regular title), Frank Sanchez vs. Richard Torrez, Mizuki Hiruta vs. Mai Soliman, Bassem Mamdouh vs. Jamar Telli, Mahmoud Mobarek vs. Michael Kalyalya, and Omar Hikhal vs. Ali Sserunkuma.

Rico Verhoeven, whom Usyk will compete against, is considered one of the greatest kickboxers of all time. He held the heavyweight world champion title under Glory for over 11 years and set numerous records within that promotion. Among his achievements are the most victories in title fights (14) and the highest total number of wins (28).

Verhoeven made his boxing debut in 2014, defeating Hungarian fighter Janos Finfer by knockout in the second round. Following this, he continued his career in kickboxing, where he gained significant popularity and recognition.

On the other hand, Oleksandr Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time last year, knocking out Daniel Dubois in the fifth round. However, shortly after, he lost his undisputed title by vacating the WBO title. This fight in Giza will mark an important milestone in his career as Usyk aims to return to the pinnacle of boxing.

The boxing evening in Giza promises to be not only a significant event for both athletes but also for all boxing fans. Oleksandr Usyk is, as always, ready to showcase his best qualities in the ring, and his matchup against Verhoeven is expected to be a true spectacle.
