Occupants Spread Fake Currency in Chernihiv and Sumy Regions
New incidents of counterfeit currency distribution have been reported in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions of Ukraine, as occupiers utilize these tactics in their information warfare. Local officials warn residents to remain vigilant and avoid falling for provocations.
In the Chernihiv and Sumy regions of Ukraine, new cases of counterfeit currency distribution have been recorded, with occupiers employing these tactics as part of their information warfare. Acting Mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar, and Head of the Koryukivka District Military Administration, Pavlo Miroshnychenko, reported that Russian troops are dropping leaflets designed to resemble 100-hryvnia banknotes using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
According to the information provided, these counterfeit banknotes feature QR codes that link to enemy information resources. Miroshnychenko noted that such leaflets were discovered in the morning in Snovsk, Chernihiv region, with similar cases reported in Novhorod-Siverskyi. On these counterfeit notes, the Russians offer 'news and real money,' which is part of their disinformation campaign.
'I urge everyone: do not touch such 'gifts' and do not scan them! Be cautious with suspicious items,' emphasized Pavlo Miroshnychenko, calling on citizens to exercise caution and not to fall for the provocations of the occupiers.
Interestingly, similar leaflets designed to look like 100-hryvnia banknotes were found in Chernihiv back in September 2025. At that time, the Russians used them to call on local residents to provide coordinates of Ukrainian military positions, assist in correcting strikes on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and promised rewards for such assistance. This tactic indicates that the enemy is attempting to manipulate the population using psychological techniques.
It is worth noting that these actions by the occupiers are part of a broader disinformation strategy aimed at sowing panic and distrust among the population. The use of fake banknotes in the form of leaflets further confirms that the enemy is trying to influence people's consciousness by utilizing modern technologies such as drones.
In light of these events, local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and not to succumb to provocations. It is crucial to remember that in times of war, information security is just as important as physical security. Citizens should be careful and pay close attention to any suspicious items that may appear in their surroundings.
Thus, the situation in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions remains tense, and local authorities continue to take measures to protect the population from disinformation and provocations by the occupiers. It is essential for Ukrainians to stay informed and cautious in the ongoing information warfare backdrop of military actions.
