Ukrainian IT Market Reaches $7.85 Billion
The Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation has announced that the total volume of the country's IT market has reached $7.85 billion, highlighting the sector's resilience amid ongoing challenges.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has released the findings of a study titled "Code of the Economy," revealing that the total volume of the Ukrainian IT market has reached an impressive $7.85 billion. This figure underscores that despite the numerous challenges faced by the country, the technology sector remains a crucial driver of the economy, accounting for nearly half of all service exports at 41.6%.
According to the study, the export of IT services is projected to reach $6.6 billion by the end of 2025, marking a 3% increase compared to the previous year. Approximately 80% of all export revenues come from ten partner countries, with the United States leading the pack, contributing nearly $2.4 billion in exports. Following the U.S. are Malta, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Israel, Switzerland, Germany, Estonia, Poland, and the United Arab Emirates. Collectively, European destinations account for 51% of Ukraine's IT exports, totaling $3.39 billion.
It is noteworthy that last year, the IT sector contributed 3.2% to Ukraine's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and paid 50.5 billion hryvnias in taxes. The largest revenue stream was generated by the "Computer Programming" sector, which brought in 33.93 billion hryvnias, or 67.2% of all revenues. The second-largest contributor was the "Data Processing, Hosting, and Related Activities" sector, which accounted for 8.37 billion hryvnias, or 16.6%. The share of the "IT Consulting" sector was 5.79 billion hryvnias (11.5%), while "Other IT and Computer Systems Activities" contributed 1.86 billion hryvnias (3.7%).
The study also revealed that every 1 hryvnia generated in IT creates an additional 1.09 hryvnias in related sectors of the economy. This indicates a high multiplier effect of the IT industry, positively impacting other sectors. One IT specialist effectively supports 2.29 jobs in areas such as finance, logistics, education, or public administration, emphasizing the importance of the IT industry for the country's economy.
Currently, Ukraine boasts over 305,000 IT professionals and 2,243 active companies. Together with related sectors, the IT industry supports more than 800,000 jobs across the nation. The majority of companies operate in the "Computer Programming" sector (62%), while the share of businesses in data processing and web hosting stands at 14%. An additional 13% of companies provide consulting services in the field of informatization.
Furthermore, it is important to note that IT taxpayers increased their contributions to the consolidated budget by more than a third (34%) in 2025, reaching 43.4 billion hryvnias compared to the previous year. This reflects the growing significance of the IT industry for the country's financial stability and economic growth.
