Netherlands Allocates €1 Million to Support Ukrainian Culture

The Netherlands has announced a significant financial commitment of one million euros to bolster Ukrainian culture, as declared by the Dutch Ambassador to Ukraine, Alle Dorhout, during a meeting with Ukrainian officials.

According to Ukrinform, Alle Dorhout, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine, announced the allocation of one million euros to support Ukrainian culture during a meeting with Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy, Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna, and Deputy Minister of Culture Ivan Verbitsky. This significant event took place ahead of the international conference titled 'Cooperation for Resilience.'

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Berezhna expressed gratitude to the Netherlands for their consistent support of the Ukrainian cultural sector. She emphasized the importance of continuing to expand this support through the implementation of joint projects and strengthening cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Tetiana Berezhna noted that due to Russian aggression, Ukraine's cultural heritage has suffered significant destruction. However, despite these challenges, Ukraine continues to restore and preserve its heritage, as this issue is crucial for national identity and historical memory. 'The support of international partners in this process is extremely important,' she stressed.

During the discussions, the parties also touched upon the topic of cultural diplomacy and support for Ukrainians living abroad. They acknowledged the importance of maintaining the connection of Ukrainian citizens with their national culture, highlighting the need for the implementation of joint initiatives and the organization of cultural events that would foster this connection.

The Dutch side emphasized that its cultural policy in Ukraine is focused on preserving Ukrainian identity through support for cultural heritage. 'We are convinced that culture is the foundation of a society's resilience. That is why the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine in preserving its cultural heritage and developing cultural institutions even in times of war,' stated Dutch Ambassador Alle Dorhout.

It is worth noting that earlier, the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, stated that businesses in his country are interested in investing in Ukraine, supporting the country's recovery and opening new opportunities for cooperation. This statement underscores the importance of international support for Ukraine in the face of contemporary challenges.
