Cool Days Ahead in Ukraine with Frosty Nights and Light Rain Mixed with Wet Snow

According to the forecast from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the coming days in Ukraine will be cool, featuring light rain and wet snow. This is especially true for Friday, April 10, when precipitation is expected to cover most of the country, except for the western regions. During the night of April 10, frost is anticipated in the northeastern part of Ukraine, adding to the chill of the already cool weather.

The wind in Ukraine will predominantly be from the northwest, blowing at a speed of 5-10 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will fluctuate between 0-3 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are expected to reach 3-8 degrees Celsius. However, in the southern and eastern parts of the country, as well as in Transcarpathia, temperatures may rise up to 11 degrees Celsius, providing a stark contrast to the overall cool conditions.

In the Carpathians, light snow is possible during the night, but no precipitation is forecasted for the daytime. Nighttime temperatures in the mountains will range from -2 to -7 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures hovering around 0 degrees. This indicates that winter conditions have not yet departed from the region, despite the approach of spring.

In the capital city of Ukraine, Kyiv, no precipitation is expected during the night of April 10; however, light rain, possibly mixed with wet snow, may occur during the day. The wind in Kyiv will also be from the northwest, with speeds of 5-10 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range between 0-2 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures will reach 4-6 degrees Celsius, making the weather in the capital quite cool.

Interestingly, according to data from the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky, the highest temperature recorded in Kyiv on April 10 throughout the meteorological observation period was 26.0 degrees Celsius in 2024, while the lowest temperature was -7.2 degrees Celsius in 1929. These figures indicate that the weather on this day can vary significantly from year to year.

On Saturday, April 11, light rain is also expected across Ukraine, with the possibility of wet snow during the night. In the west and southwest of the country, no precipitation is anticipated. Fog may develop in the southeastern part of Ukraine during the night and morning, which could complicate visibility on the roads.

The wind on Saturday will be from the west, blowing at a speed of 5-10 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will again fluctuate between 0-3 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are expected to rise to 5-10 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of reaching 13 degrees in the south, east of the country, and in Transcarpathia. In Kyiv on April 11, light rain is also forecasted, with the possibility of wet snow during the night. The wind will be from the west, with speeds of 5-10 m/s, and nighttime temperatures will range between 0-2 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are expected to reach 7-9 degrees Celsius.
