National Record in Lviv: Nearly 1600 People Simultaneously Decorate Easter Eggs

A unique event in Lviv has entered the history books as a new national record for Ukraine, with nearly 1600 participants gathering to decorate over 1700 Easter eggs simultaneously.

A remarkable event took place in Lviv, marking a new national record for Ukraine. Nearly 1600 individuals gathered at the Lviv Palace of Arts to simultaneously decorate more than 1700 Easter eggs. This information was shared by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, on his Facebook page, as reported by Ukrinform.

According to Kozytskyi, more than 30 experienced masters of Easter egg painting participated in this impressive process. They not only taught the participants the techniques of egg decoration but also shared the meanings embedded in each symbol by generations of Ukrainians. This initiative became not only a celebration for all participants but also a crucial element in preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage.

Kozytskyi emphasized the importance of holding such events in the context of war. “Today we are fighting not only for our land; we are standing up for our identity, our language, our traditions, and the connection between the present, past, and future of our state,” he noted. These words underline the significance of preserving cultural heritage amid contemporary challenges.

In addition to setting the record, the event had another important mission. It aimed to raise funds for the treatment of 7-year-old Bohdan Ilkiv from Brody, who has been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. To halt this devastating disease, the medication Elevidys is required, which costs 2.9 million dollars. To secure the life-saving injection for Bohdan, nearly 15 million hryvnias still need to be raised. Everyone interested can contribute to the fundraising through a dedicated website.

This event also holds significance in the context of preserving Ukrainian culture abroad. As reported by Ukrinform, a master class in Ukrainian Easter egg painting is planned to take place outdoors in Riga. This indicates that Ukrainian culture continues to thrive and evolve despite all the challenges the country faces.
