Attacker of Military Personnel at TCC in Kharkiv Faces Up to 12 Years in Prison – Police

In Kharkiv, law enforcement officials have successfully identified and detained the assailant who attacked a military serviceman at the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCC) within a mere three hours following the crime. The perpetrator, a 55-year-old man, was arrested in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

According to information released by the Communications Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, investigators have opened a criminal proceeding under Part 3 of Article 350 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article stipulates penalties for threats or violence against officials or citizens performing their public duties. Law enforcement authorities indicate that the sanctions under this article could result in imprisonment for a term ranging from five to twelve years.

The incident occurred on Monday morning during operations conducted by a mobile group from the Industrial United District TCC and Social Support. While checking military registration documents, a civilian attempted to evade the inspection by fleeing the scene. During his escape, the offender exhibited several aggressive actions: he threw two training grenades towards the serviceman, fired two shots from a pneumatic pistol, and inflicted a knife wound to the abdomen of one of the military personnel before fleeing the scene.

It is important to note that earlier, the Kharkiv Regional TCC and Social Support reported that during mobilization notification activities, a civilian attacked military personnel with a knife. As a result of this attack, one serviceman sustained a knife wound to the abdomen and was urgently hospitalized. This incident has sparked outrage among the public and has drawn attention to the issue of safety during military operations.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into this incident to clarify all circumstances surrounding the attack and to hold the perpetrator accountable. They are urging citizens to remain vigilant and cautious in similar situations and to report any suspicious activities that may pose a threat to safety.
