Attack on TCC Employee in Kharkiv: Court Places Suspect Under House Arrest
On April 8, the Slobidsky District Court of Kharkiv decided to place 56-year-old Ruslan Halimzanov under round-the-clock house arrest for 60 days, following his alleged knife attack on an employee of the Territorial Center for Recruitment.
On April 8, the Slobidsky District Court of Kharkiv made a significant ruling regarding the preventive measure for 56-year-old Ruslan Halimzanov, who is suspected of carrying out a knife attack on an employee of the Territorial Center for Recruitment. The court decided to place the suspect under round-the-clock house arrest for a period of 60 days.
This decision was reached after the court reviewed the case materials, during which the prosecutor requested that the suspect be taken into custody, citing the severity of the crime, the aggressiveness of the actions, and the risk that the suspect might evade justice. However, Halimzanov's defense argued for a less severe preventive measure, pointing out circumstances that could indicate the suspect's innocence.
During the court session, Ruslan Halimzanov expressed his position, stating that he had no intention of fleeing from justice. He emphasized that he takes care of his 77-year-old mother, with whom he lives, and requested the court to consider this circumstance. "I need to be close to my mother; I need to support and care for her. Unfortunately, our family consists of only two people: me and my mother; there is no one else to take care of her. I do not plan to flee anywhere; I will comply with all court requirements. I cannot leave my mother," stated the suspect.
Halimzanov's lawyer also expressed disagreement with the charges, indicating possible violations by the employees of the Territorial Center for Recruitment, particularly the lack of proper procedures for stopping and checking documents. This could suggest that the suspect's actions may have been provoked by the improper performance of duties by the military personnel.
The prosecutor, commenting on the situation, emphasized that the military personnel who were victims of the attack were in uniform, which could indicate that the motive for the suspect's actions might have been an attempt to evade mobilization. He also noted that the victim is in serious condition, highlighting the gravity of the incident's consequences.
It is important to recall that on April 6 in Kharkiv, during the notification of military conscripts, a civilian man stabbed a soldier in the abdomen. This incident has sparked widespread public concern, as it underscores the tense situation in the country amid military actions and mobilization efforts.
