Ukrainian Forces Destroy $20 Million Russian Electronic Warfare System 'Palantin' in Zaporizhzhia
In a significant military achievement, Ukrainian special forces successfully destroyed a rare Russian electronic warfare system valued at $20 million, known as 'Palantin', in the Zaporizhzhia region.
According to reports from Ukrinform, the separate special forces unit Lasar’s Group shared news of their successful operation via Telegram, posting a video that showcased the results of their combat efforts. The military personnel noted that through meticulous planning and coordinated interaction with other units, they were able to eliminate a rare enemy target—the 'Palantin' electronic warfare system. This accomplishment marks a crucial advancement in the ongoing struggle against Russian troops in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
Military sources indicated that the operation was conducted by the Lasar’s Group, which is part of the National Guard of Ukraine. They executed a comprehensive special operation that resulted in the destruction of a powerful electronic warfare system used by Russian forces to shield their air defense assets. The 'Lazars' conducted reconnaissance in the area of responsibility of the 17th Army Corps, where they identified a concentration of air defense systems, which became the basis for their subsequent actions.
During the preparation for the operation, the military discovered that the Russian air defense systems were under the cover of a robust electronic warfare system. This became a priority target for Ukrainian forces. Lasar’s Group, in collaboration with the 15th Separate Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade 'Black Forest', conducted a detailed analysis of the area where Russian assets were concentrated, and the fighters from the 15th Brigade completed the final reconnaissance before the attack.
After the preparatory measures were completed, the 'Lazars' utilized their own drones to strike the 'Palantin' system. The initial strikes from the crews resulted in damaging the target, while subsequent attacks led to its complete destruction. Military officials calculated that as a result of this operation, the Russian side incurred losses amounting to $20 million, while Ukrainian forces gained the ability to operate more freely in the air, which is a vital factor in modern combat conditions.
This operation is a continuation of previous successes by Ukrainian forces in their fight against Russian electronic warfare systems. As reported by Ukrinform, in January, fighters from the 429th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems 'Achilles' also successfully tracked and inflicted multiple strikes on the Russian electronic warfare system 'Borisoglebsk-2' in the Vovchansk direction. These successes highlight the increasing effectiveness of Ukrainian military forces in utilizing modern technologies for combat operations.
Through such operations, Ukrainian forces continue to strengthen their positions on the front lines while also boosting confidence in their capabilities. The military encourages the public to join their channels on Telegram, Instagram, and YouTube to stay updated on the latest news and events from the front.
