Modular Settlement Opens in Transcarpathia for Children from Frontline Areas

A new modular settlement has officially opened in the village of Tsyhanyvtsi, Transcarpathia, aimed at providing a safe haven for children displaced from frontline regions of Ukraine due to ongoing conflict.

In the picturesque village of Tsyhanyvtsi, located in the Transcarpathia region of Ukraine, a new modular settlement has commenced operations, specifically designed to cater to children from frontline territories. The Transcarpathian Regional Council announced this development on its Facebook page, with the information being relayed by the Ukrinform agency. This project, which carries a price tag of nearly 1 million euros, aims to create a secure environment for the education and development of children who have been forced to leave their homes due to military actions.

The modern modular settlement is situated on the grounds of the 'Trembita' health camp and was constructed with the generous support of Czech philanthropists. As part of this initiative, 11 eco-friendly modular houses, known as 'ecocapsules,' have been erected. These units are fully equipped to provide comfortable living conditions for 40 children and their accompanying caregivers. Each modular block features two rooms covering an area of 25 square meters, along with modern kitchens and bathrooms, ensuring that children have all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.

A key feature of the ecocapsules is their incorporation of alternative energy sources, specifically solar panels, which enhance their ecological footprint and energy efficiency. In addition to providing a comfortable living environment, the initiative also includes the implementation of a comprehensive educational program that involves the engagement of qualified specialists in psychological support. This means that children will receive assistance from psychologists, psychiatrists, and special educators who will aid in their social adaptation and emotional recovery.

Children from frontline areas will have the opportunity to recuperate in Transcarpathia for a month. The first group of students arriving at the settlement consists of children from the Zaporizhia region. They will attend classes at the Velykolazivskyi Lyceum, where they will have access to educational materials and support. Furthermore, a series of enriching excursion programs have been organized for the children, allowing them to explore the culture and natural beauty of Transcarpathia.

To facilitate comfortable travel within the region, Czech benefactors have donated a 52-seat bus and a passenger car to the facility, significantly easing transportation for the children and their caregivers. This not only ensures convenience in mobility but also opens new opportunities for the children to participate in various activities and excursions.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian government allocated over 740 million hryvnias in 2026 for free rehabilitation and recreation for children from certain categories, underscoring the importance of supporting children affected by conflict. This project represents another step towards ensuring a safe environment for children who have endured challenging times, providing them with opportunities for education and development in conditions conducive to their well-being.
