Prosecutor's Office in Transcarpathia Investigates Assault on Soldier in Tyachiv
The prosecutor's office in Transcarpathia has initiated an investigation into the assault of a soldier that occurred in Tyachiv. The incident has raised significant concerns regarding the safety of military personnel and veterans in the region.
In Transcarpathia, the prosecutor's office has begun an investigation into the assault of a soldier that took place in Tyachiv. This was reported on Facebook by the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office, as conveyed by Ukrinform. Information regarding the incident has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to hooliganism.
According to the information released by the prosecutor's office, the incident occurred on April 1, but it only became widely known on April 8, after a video of the attack surfaced on social media. The footage shows a group of individuals attacking a veteran with a baseball bat, indicating the audacity and aggression of the assailants.
Preliminary reports suggest that the event took place around 4:00 PM near a local sports complex. A dispute arose between the veteran and a group of local residents, which escalated into a physical confrontation. The attackers inflicted bodily harm on the victim, necessitating a serious investigation by law enforcement.
The head of the Transcarpathian Prosecutor's Office, Myroslav Patskan, emphasized that the safety of military personnel and veterans in the rear is a priority for the state. He stressed that any attacks on military personnel are unacceptable and will inevitably lead to accountability. This underscores the seriousness of the situation and the necessity of protecting the rights of veterans.
Currently, further clarification of all circumstances surrounding the incident and the involvement of individuals is ongoing under the procedural guidance of the Tyachiv District Prosecutor's Office. Law enforcement is actively working to identify all participants in the conflict, as well as to gather evidence that may assist in the investigation.
This incident is not isolated. Earlier, there were reports of an incident in Prykarpattia, where veteran Oleksandr Lysy was assaulted simply for wearing military uniform. Such attacks on military personnel and veterans provoke public outrage and demand an appropriate response from law enforcement agencies.
The Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office urges citizens not to remain indifferent to such incidents and to report them to law enforcement. The safety of military personnel who protect the country must be guaranteed not only on the front lines but also in the rear, where they have the right to respect and protection.
