Authorities Uncover Drug Group with Nationwide Network in Ternopil Region

In a significant crackdown, law enforcement in the Ternopil region has dismantled a powerful drug group that established a vast network for the production and distribution of narcotics across Ukraine.

In a major operation, law enforcement officials in the Ternopil region have uncovered a formidable drug group responsible for creating a large-scale network for the manufacture and sale of narcotic substances throughout Ukraine. During the conducted operational measures in the Kremenets district, authorities discovered a drug laboratory where illegal drugs were being produced, leading to the arrest of ten suspects.

According to a statement from the Office of the Prosecutor General, law enforcement carried out 54 searches across seven different regions of Ukraine. These actions resulted in the seizure of a staggering quantity of narcotic substances, including approximately 200 kilograms of methadone, 127 kilograms of opium extract, which amounts to over 2 million doses, nearly 20 tons of precursors, around 20 kilograms of cannabis, and 25 kilograms of poppy straw.

The estimated value of the seized drugs on the black market is around 700 million hryvnias. This figure underscores the scale and danger of the group's operations, which, according to law enforcement, extended across the entire territory of Ukraine, supplying drugs to various regions.

In addition to narcotics, significant amounts of cash were also confiscated during the searches: over $60,000, €10,000, and 260,000 hryvnias. Authorities found 32 gold and 17 silver coins, five vehicles, firearms, ammunition—including magazines for Kalashnikov rifles—as well as equipment and handwritten notes that indicate the criminal activities of the group.

As part of the investigation, which is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office, 12 individuals have been charged with illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, mailing, and sale of narcotic substances and psychotropic substances. Another individual is accused of organizing and maintaining places for the illegal use and production of drugs.

The arrest of the ten suspects is the result of prolonged and meticulous work by law enforcement, who not only identified the drug laboratory but also the entire infrastructure that supported the functioning of this criminal organization. Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may indicate illegal drug-related activities.

This case once again highlights the importance of combating drug trafficking in Ukraine and the necessity for collaborative efforts among law enforcement agencies to prevent the spread of narcotics among the population. The authorities promise to continue active work in this direction to ensure the safety of citizens and reduce the level of drug-related crime.
