29 People Injured in Drone Attack in Sumy Region
A horrific drone attack in the Sumy region of Ukraine has left 29 individuals injured within a single day, according to Oleg Grygorov, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
In the Sumy region, particularly within the Sumy community, a devastating drone attack occurred, resulting in injuries to 29 people in just one day. This alarming incident was reported by Oleg Grygorov, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, via his Telegram channel.
Grygorov indicated that the nighttime drone strike injured 19 children and 10 adults. During the day, following further shelling, two additional individuals were wounded. Throughout the day, medical facilities continued to receive victims, many of whom reported acute stress reactions, highlighting the severe psychological impact of the attack.
The injured included both women and men of various ages. Specifically, in the Popiv community, two women were injured; in the Svesa community, a 69-year-old man was hurt; in the Hlukhiv community, a 25-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man sustained injuries; and in the Shostka community, a 48-year-old woman received medical assistance. These cases illustrate that the attack affected individuals across different ages and social statuses.
Overall, more than 60 shellings were recorded in the region throughout the day, impacting 35 populated areas across 18 communities. This underscores the scale of the attack and its serious consequences for the civilian population. Many private homes, apartment buildings, vehicles, agricultural structures, and infrastructure facilities sustained damage or were destroyed.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first instance of drones being used to attack civilian targets in Ukraine. On April 4, in the Svesa community, a 68-year-old man collided with a Russian drone that detonated, resulting in injuries to the pensioner. This incident emphasizes the dangers faced by local residents amid ongoing conflict.
The situation in the Sumy region remains tense, and local authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures. The government continues to work on providing assistance to the injured and restoring damaged facilities.
In light of these events, medical institutions are actively engaged in providing care to the victims, as well as psychological support for those who have experienced stressful situations. Authorities are urging residents to stay safe and not to ignore alarm signals.
