Anton Polyukhovych, a 25-year-old soldier of the Brotherhood unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, known by his call sign 'Umnik,' has been killed in action during a combat mission. He died while participating in a raid on the occupied shore of the Kakhovka Reservoir.

The news of Polyukhovych's death was confirmed by the Brotherhood unit, which highlighted his bravery and professionalism. 'Even in his first combat operation, our brother participated in an incursion into enemy territory, where he, along with his group, captured his first prisoner,' representatives of the unit stated.

They also noted that after receiving a command position, Polyukhovych took care of all the needs of his soldiers, wisely managing them during combat. 'He successfully conducted the rotation of groups from 8 km deep into the enemy kill zone,' the Brotherhood added, emphasizing his leadership qualities.

According to his comrades, Polyukhovych 'has forever etched his name in history' by participating in the raid on the occupied shore of the Kakhovka Reservoir, where he, along with his group, neutralized an enemy reconnaissance unit and captured two valuable enemy fighters. 'This unique operation was made possible thanks to his talents in navigation, endurance, and cool-headedness,' the unit stated.

Information provided by the Brotherhood described Polyukhovych as 'a good-hearted boy, a churchgoer, a fan of Ukrainian rock music, and board games in the rear.' He was characterized as a thoughtful, fearless, and taciturn fighter in the war.

A farewell ceremony for Anton Polyukhovych is scheduled for April 7. The memorial service will take place in Kyiv at the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral at 11:30 AM, followed by a farewell ceremony at Independence Square.

The publication Rayon.Varash also reported on Anton Polyukhovych's death, citing his fellow villagers. It was noted that he died on March 3, 2026. The publication also reported that for his participation in sabotage operations in the Zaporizhzhia region, Polyukhovych was awarded the Order for Courage.

Before the war, Polyukhovych was a student and 'could not even imagine himself in a military environment.' However, after learning about field chaplaincy, he realized that this was his calling. 'Since then, he sought ways to be useful: first as a volunteer, then he completed chaplaincy courses, traveled to the east, and visited the wounded in hospitals. It was his work with the military and being close to them that gave him the feeling that he was 'in his place' and could be of help. Ultimately, he took up arms,' the article states.
