Military Officer and Accomplice Exposed for Receiving Bribes in Mykolaiv Region

Authorities in the Mykolaiv region have uncovered a military officer from the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support and his accomplice, who established a scheme to obtain illegal benefits from conscripts.

In the Mykolaiv region, law enforcement officials have exposed a military officer from the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, along with his accomplice, who devised a scheme to receive illegal benefits. This information was reported by the Mykolaiv police, as conveyed by the Ukrinform news agency.

According to the preliminary investigation, in December 2025, a 34-year-old instructor from one of the district territorial centers in Mykolaiv, together with his 32-year-old acquaintance, developed a plan that involved obtaining illegal benefits from conscripts. The police noted that the military officer initiated the entry of false information into the electronic system 'Oberih,' indicating the alleged non-appearance of a conscript when summoned to the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.

To exert pressure on the individual suspected of non-appearance, the perpetrator sent photographic evidence of his presence in the search database. It is important to mention that the suspect had legitimate grounds for postponement from mobilization, as he was a student at a higher education institution. As a result, for a sum of 500 US dollars, the criminals promised to remove the non-appearance data from the system and influence the relevant officials at the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.

Law enforcement officials apprehended the suspects after the agreed sum of money was transferred and distributed between them. Currently, the individuals involved in the case have been notified of suspicion under parts 2 of Article 28 and 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for receiving illegal benefits for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with extortion of such benefits, committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy.

According to Ukrainian legislation, the perpetrators face up to eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. A preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen for the 34-year-old suspect, with the possibility of posting bail. Meanwhile, the question of selecting a preventive measure for the 32-year-old accomplice is still being resolved.

Law enforcement continues its work and is currently identifying other individuals who may be involved in this criminal activity. As previously reported, there have been instances in Mykolaiv where military personnel promised conscripts to remove information from the informational-analytical system of the state register 'Oberih.'

This situation underscores the necessity of strengthening control over the activities of Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support, as well as the importance of combating corruption in all its forms. Authorities urge citizens to be cautious and not to fall victim to such fraudulent schemes.
