Easter Services Banned During Curfew in Kherson Region – Regional Administration

In the Kherson region, authorities have announced a ban on religious services during the curfew hours amid escalating security concerns, as confirmed by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.

In the Kherson region, amid heightened security concerns, a decision has been made to prohibit religious services in places of worship and surrounding areas during curfew hours. This information was disclosed by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, through his Telegram account on Friday. He noted that the restrictions also apply to visits to cemeteries unless they are related to funeral processes.

According to Prokudin's announcement, the decision was made during a meeting of the Kherson Defense Council, convened due to the deteriorating situation in the region. The focus of the discussions was on safety during the Easter celebrations and memorial days. The regional leader emphasized that the safety of citizens is a priority, and therefore, necessary measures were decided upon to ensure it.

"Due to the worsening security situation, I held a meeting of the Kherson Defense Council. The focus was on safety during Easter and memorial days. We made the decision to ban religious services in places of worship and surrounding areas during curfew hours, blessing offerings in the streets, and visiting cemeteries unless it pertains to funeral processes," Prokudin stated in his message.

It is important to note that such measures are part of broader efforts to ensure the safety of the population amid ongoing military actions and threats of terrorist acts. Authorities are urging all residents of the region to understand these restrictions, as the main goal is to preserve the lives and health of people.

"I ask everyone to understand the restrictions. Right now, the main thing is to preserve the lives and health of people," Prokudin added, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the established rules during this difficult time.

This ban has elicited mixed reactions among the population. Many people understand the necessity of such measures; however, some believe that restrictions on festive services may affect the spiritual state of the community. Nevertheless, in the context of war and threats, safety remains paramount.

Thus, in the Kherson region, as in many other regions of Ukraine, authorities continue to implement measures to ensure the safety of citizens during festive days, taking into account the current threats and challenges facing the country.
