Russian Forces Increase Drone Usage in Kherson Region, Reports Regional Administration
The military forces of the Russian Federation have significantly ramped up their use of drones in the Kherson region, raising serious concerns among local residents and military personnel.
The military forces of the Russian Federation, which continue their aggression against Ukraine, have significantly increased the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Kherson region. This information was revealed by Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, in a post on his Telegram channel, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency.
According to the information provided by Prokudin, throughout January 2025, Russian occupiers deployed over 5,200 drones. However, in just the past week alone, their numbers reached approximately 4,400. This indicates a sharp increase in enemy activity regarding the use of drones, which is causing serious concern among the local population and military forces.
Oleksandr Prokudin noted that this rise in drone usage is linked to the transition to fiber-optic control of unmanned aerial vehicles. According to him, the share of drones controlled via fiber optics now ranges from 10% to 50%, depending on the specific area of deployment. This suggests that Russian forces are employing cutting-edge technologies for combat operations, making their actions even more dangerous.
In light of this information, it is important to note that the situation in the Kherson region remains tense. Just in the past day, as a result of Russian aggression, two people were killed and ten others were injured. These tragic incidents underscore the critical nature of the situation in the region, where civilians are suffering from military actions.
It is worth mentioning that the use of drones in warfare has become one of the key aspects of modern combat. Drones allow military forces to gather intelligence on enemy positions and conduct aerial strikes, significantly complicating defense tasks. Therefore, the increase in both the quantity and variety of drones in the arsenal of Russian forces raises serious concerns among experts and military analysts.
Recall that the Kherson region has become one of the most affected areas in Ukraine due to the war. The occupation of part of the territory and ongoing shelling have resulted in immense human and material losses. Local residents continue to live under threat, while Ukraine's military efforts are focused on protecting civilians and regaining control over lost territories.
In this context, it is crucial for the international community to continue supporting Ukraine in its struggle for independence and territorial integrity. Each new act of aggression from Russia highlights the necessity of collective efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region.
