Collision Between Truck and Train Near Kolomak Station in Kharkiv Region Alters Train Schedules
A serious accident occurred near Kolomak station in the Kharkiv region when a truck collided with a passenger train, prompting significant changes to train schedules in the area.
According to the news agency Ukrinform, information about the accident was published on the Telegram channel of the state railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia. Preliminary reports indicate that a freight truck was involved in a collision with a passenger train. Thanks to the prompt actions of the train driver, who applied emergency braking in time, the impact was mitigated, fortunately preventing any injuries among the passengers.
The report states that the truck driver received medical assistance, and his health status is currently being assessed. However, despite the absence of injuries among passengers, the accident resulted in damage to the locomotive and at least one of the train's carriages, complicating the situation on the railway tracks.
As a result of the incident, train traffic towards Kharkiv has undergone significant alterations. Trains operating in this direction will be forced to take detours, leading to delays in their schedules. Ukrzaliznytsia is already working on organizing spare carriages for train No. 21/22, which is heading to Lviv, to ensure comfortable transportation for passengers in light of this emergency situation.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that the dispatch service of Ukrzaliznytsia has access to military airspace control systems. This capability allows them to continuously monitor the situation with strike drones (UAVs) and take necessary measures for the evacuation of passengers in case of any threats.
