Blackouts Affect Most Border Communities in Chernihiv Region Due to Russian Attacks

In the Chernihiv region, as a result of attacks from the Russian Federation, most populated areas of border communities have been left without electricity. This information was shared on social media by Oleksandr Seliverstov, the head of the Novhorod-Siverskyi District Military Administration, who emphasized that the situation is extremely complex.
Seliverstov highlighted that energy workers are prepared to begin emergency restoration work; however, the implementation of these efforts depends on the security situation in the region. This means that restoration work may be postponed until the situation becomes more stable and safe for conducting recovery measures.
As of the morning of April 6, the situation with electricity supply in the Chernihiv region was reported to be the most challenging, according to the Ukrinform agency. This indicates that not only border communities are suffering from the consequences of aggression, but other populated areas in the region may also be at risk.
It is important to note that under martial law, the restoration of electricity supply may take some time, as energy companies must act cautiously and consider potential threats from the enemy. Seliverstov urged residents to be patient and to follow the recommendations of local authorities.
This situation underscores the importance of ensuring energy security in wartime, as electricity supply is critically important for the livelihood of the population, especially in border regions that often become targets for attacks.
It is worth recalling that Ukraine has been at war with Russia since 2014, and since the onset of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, the situation in the country has significantly worsened. Many cities and villages have suffered destruction, and infrastructure, including energy systems, urgently needs restoration.
