Ministry of Defense Purchases Record Amount of Engineering Mines and Drone Munitions – Fedorov
The Defense Procurement Agency has recorded an unprecedented volume of purchases for engineering mines and munitions for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, over 50% of these supplies have already been delivered in the first three months of 2026.
The Defense Procurement Agency (DPA) has reported a record volume of purchases for engineering mines and munitions intended for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). As stated by Ukraine's Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov, more than 50% of the total volume of these items, which were delivered throughout 2025, has already been provided within the first three months of 2026.
Fedorov emphasized that the volume of purchases will significantly increase by the end of the year. This achievement is a result of systematic scaling of procurement processes, allowing military units to receive the necessary means of destruction more rapidly at the front lines. "As a result of the systematic scaling of procurement, units are receiving means of destruction more quickly directly at the front," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
The Minister underscored the importance of engineering mines, which are capable of destroying enemy equipment and forcing it to operate according to the scenarios set by Ukrainian forces, effectively turning it into "firebags." The cost of a single mine is significantly lower than the value of the equipment it stops or destroys, making them an effective tool in combat.
Fedorov also highlighted the significance of munitions for UAVs, which allow for precise targeting of infantry and light vehicles without resorting to the use of expensive large-caliber munitions. "They reach the enemy where other means are ineffective, preserving resources for more complex targets," the Minister noted.
"The military requires these items in large volumes, so we continue to scale up supplies. Together with the Defense Forces, we are actively moving according to the war plan. One of our key tasks is to strengthen units and provide them with the necessary means," Fedorov emphasized.
He also announced that the Ministry of Defense has already updated its annual requirements and is significantly increasing procurement in key categories such as FPV drones, reconnaissance and strike UAVs, munitions for these systems, engineering mines, and other solutions that determine battlefield effectiveness on a daily basis.
"The team's priority is the transformation of the procurement system. Our goal is to make it one of the most transparent and efficient in the world. Procurement must operate quickly and without bureaucracy. The speed of contracting and delivery directly affects the lives of soldiers at the front," concluded Ukraine's Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov.
