Ukrainian Defense Ministry Responds to Murder of Territorial Center Soldier in Lviv

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has reacted to a tragic incident that occurred on April 2 in Lviv, where a soldier from the Territorial Center for Recruitment (TCR) was murdered. The ministry emphasized that anyone who commits murder against military personnel, regardless of the crime's location—on the front lines or in the rear—acts against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has issued a statement regarding a tragic incident that took place on April 2 in Lviv, where a soldier from the Territorial Center for Recruitment (TCR) was killed. The ministry underscored that any individual who commits murder against military personnel, whether on the battlefield or within the country, is acting against Ukraine.

This announcement was made on the official page of the Ministry of Defense on Tuesday, April 2. In its address, the ministry stated: "The mobilization system requires changes, and these will be implemented soon. However, no issue within the system can justify murder."

The ministry also expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased soldier and assured that the perpetrator of this crime would face inevitable punishment for his actions.

The tragedy occurred around 2:15 PM on Paton Street in Lviv, where an unknown assailant fatally stabbed the TCR soldier in the neck during notification activities. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries in the hospital before receiving medical assistance.

Shortly after the crime was committed, the suspect was apprehended—identified as an employee of the Lviv Customs. This information was confirmed by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, which sparked additional public outcry.

Journalist Vitaliy Hlahola commented on the situation, stating that the customs inspector who attacked the TCR soldier acted in defense of his younger brother, who had fled during a document check. This aspect of the case has become a topic of discussion among experts and the public.

In connection with this incident, a criminal proceeding has been initiated under paragraph 8 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which stipulates punishment for intentional murder. According to the law, the man faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of ten to fifteen years or even life imprisonment.

This case has provoked outrage within society, as the murder of military personnel who defend the country is deemed unacceptable. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine calls for justice and decisive action in punishing the guilty, emphasizing that such crimes cannot go unpunished.
