Meryl Streep and Anna Wintour Discovered to be Distant Relatives

American actress Meryl Streep and former Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who inspired the lead character in the iconic film 'The Devil Wears Prada,' have been revealed to be distant relatives. This surprising revelation comes from a new study conducted by Ancestry.

American actress Meryl Streep and former Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who became the inspiration for the lead character in the iconic film 'The Devil Wears Prada,' have been discovered to be distant relatives. This revelation was made public through a new study conducted by Ancestry, which showed that there are familial ties between the two women, specifically, they are sixth cousins.

Representatives from Ancestry reported that the connection between Wintour and Streep was uncovered using an analysis of billions of historical records and public genealogical trees. The research revealed that they share common ancestors named Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Kinsey. This discovery has created quite a sensation, as both women have shared roots that they were previously unaware of.

Interestingly, Anna Wintour and Meryl Streep were both born in the same year—1949—with just a five-month difference between their birthdays. This detail further emphasizes their closeness, albeit in a genealogical sense. The news of this research surfaced just ahead of the release of the sequel 'The Devil Wears Prada 2,' which has sparked even greater interest in both women.

The first installment of 'The Devil Wears Prada' was released in 2006 and was based on the eponymous novel by Lauren Weisberger. Weisberger, who once worked with Wintour at Vogue, drew inspiration from this experience while creating her literary work. In the film, Meryl Streep portrayed the character Miranda Priestly—a fashion magazine editor who became a symbol of the fashion world.

It is noteworthy that Anna Wintour herself will not appear in the sequel to this cult film, despite the fact that her persona served as the foundation for the main character. In 2021, the cast and crew revealed that Miranda Priestly's office in the film was recreated exactly as Anna Wintour's original office during her tenure at Vogue.

The premiere of 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' in Ukraine is scheduled for April 30. From the trailer, it is clear that Miranda and her colleague Nigel continue to work at the fictional magazine 'Runway,' which is considered a prototype of American Vogue. The main character, Andy, returns to her position as editor, and the three of them reunite with Emily, who previously also worked as Miranda Priestly's assistant. This news has generated significant excitement among fans of the film, as many are eagerly anticipating new adventures in the world of fashion.
