In the town of Staryi Sambir, located in the Lviv region, a remarkable event unfolded on April 8, 2023, marking a historic moment for Ukraine. This day saw the official establishment of a Ukrainian record in the categories of 'Mass Events' and 'Culture' for the largest number of hand-painted traditional Boyko Easter eggs. The event, organized under the title 'Boyko Easter Egg of Unity for the Armed Forces of Ukraine,' became not just a large-scale cultural gathering but also a powerful symbol of support, gratitude, and unity among Ukrainians, as reported by the Book of World Records.

The record-setting event was part of a cultural initiative that brought together 1,233 participants. Throughout the day, these individuals collectively crafted an impressive total of 2,936 Easter eggs. These eggs are set to be donated to rehabilitation centers, military units, and frontline troops, highlighting the importance of supporting Ukrainian defenders during these challenging times.

Participants of all ages, professions, and backgrounds took part in the initiative. Among them were educators, representatives from the public sector, rescuers, military personnel, and local community members. The youngest participant in the egg-painting activity was only four years old, demonstrating the significance of this tradition for all generations of Ukrainians.

The official record verification was conducted by representatives from the Book of World Records, alongside notable figures such as Olha Bodnar, head of the cultural heritage sector of the Stryi District State Administration; Oleksandr Sikora, director of the public organization 'TIC Stryi District,' a multiple record holder; and Liudmyla Chykovska, a volunteer and ambassador of the Cossack-military tradition at the NGO 'Center for the Heritage of Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi.'

During the official segment of the event, diplomas were awarded to the Staryi Sambir City Territorial Community, as well as to the Department of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism of the Executive Committee of the Staryi Sambir City Council and the cultural heritage sector. This recognition underscored the importance of cultural initiatives in supporting national identity and unity.

Additionally, during the event, a decision was made to establish a permanent 'Easter Egg Residence,' which aims to become a center for the preservation and development of Boyko cultural heritage. This project is intended not only to safeguard traditions but also to promote them among youth and future generations.

The organizers emphasized that this record is not just a monumental achievement but also a testament to the strength of Ukrainian traditions, community unity, and a shared belief in victory. In the face of modern challenges, such as the ongoing war, initiatives like this become particularly vital for preserving national identity and uplifting the spirit of the Ukrainian people.
