Nearly 26,000 Ukrainian Soldiers Complete Enhanced Training in Germany - General Staff

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that in recent months, the Multinational Special Training Command has become a key component in supporting the European Union's military assistance mission to Ukraine, known as EUMAM Ukraine.

The press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that over the past few months, the Multinational Special Training Command (MN ST-C) has emerged as a crucial element in facilitating the European Union's military assistance mission to Ukraine, referred to as EUMAM Ukraine. This mission actively engages in training Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, taking into account their combat needs and the specific nature of their operational tasks.

Since the establishment of the mission in mid-2022, approximately 26,000 Ukrainian military personnel have undergone training in Germany under the coordination of the Multinational Special Training Command. Training activities have been conducted at more than 50 military and industrial training sites across the country, reflecting a broad and modular training structure tailored to the needs of Ukrainian soldiers.

The scope of training covered basic military disciplines across all operational domains. Key areas of training included general military training, firearms training, tactical planning, medical training, protection against weapons of mass destruction (CBRN), demining, logistics, and communication. Additionally, specialized training formats, as well as the training of staff officers, contributed to strengthening leadership qualities, management skills, and operational planning capabilities.

All branches of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) participated in the training, providing personnel and specialists for the training activities. The support of highly motivated multinational instructors also became an essential component of the successful training process.

The Multinational Special Training Command continued to operate as a multinational headquarters, with approximately one-third of its 100 staff positions filled by personnel from 13 partner countries. This underscores the collective European commitment to supporting Ukraine in its struggle for independence and territorial integrity.

The General Staff noted that training activities were continuously adapted in response to the evolving combat situation and lessons learned from the ongoing conflict, ensuring their relevance and effectiveness at all levels. An important aspect of the Multinational Special Training Command's work is the close operational feedback from Ukrainian military personnel.

First-hand information about conditions on the battlefield directly influenced the development and implementation of training programs. This allowed for the prompt adjustment of training priorities, particularly in areas such as the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), tactical procedures, as well as the maintenance and operational support of weaponry and military equipment (WME) in combat conditions. Training was consistently planned and conducted according to the principle of 'adaptation to combat tasks.'

The General Staff emphasized that the Multinational Special Training Command demonstrates its ability to provide flexible, resilient, and operationally relevant training in support of Ukraine, continuously adapting to the dynamic security environment. As reported by Ukrinform, over the past four years, more than 87,500 Ukrainian military personnel have undergone training within the framework of the European Union's military assistance mission to Ukraine – EUMAM Ukraine.
